The trade outpost is a tile improvement that claims a trade good and allows the trade good to be harvested. Trade goods are the 3 column bedrock block scattered around the map. Each town can only support 8 trade buildings (unless the town owns the Mother Tree, in which case it can support 10).
For trade goods in the water you will need to use a Fishing Boat instead to harvest them.

This improvement will center itself on the trade good chunk in addition to always facing EAST.

Placement Considerations[ | ]
Like all Tile Improvements, trade outposts can be built anywhere inside your town's culture borders. If they are built outside the borders of your town, and enemies can use it for shelter as they are not protected plots. The structure should still function unless destroyed during war.
